Crowns and Bridges

A dental bridge is a prosthetic device used to replace one or more missing teeth, spanning or “bridging” the gap left by the missing teeth. A bridge consists of a strong metal framework that supports one or more prosthetic teeth called pontics.

Dr. Lew uses special clips to attach the bridge to the teeth on either side of the gap. These supporting teeth are protected with durable crowns to prevent them from becoming damaged by the pressure of the clips and the bridge itself.

Bridges typically require two office visits. During the first visit, the teeth used to support the bridge will be prepared for crowns and an impression will be made of the entire area.

The impression will be sent to our dental lab where they’ll use state-of-the-art materials and techniques to craft a bridge that’s made just for you. Then temporary crowns will be placed on the teeth to protect them.

At your second appointment, the permanent crowns will be applied and the bridge will be adjusted for a comfortable fit.

Crowns and bridges can last more than 15 years, depending on how you care for them. As long as you brush twice a day, floss after meals, and visit Dr. Lew for routine checkups, your restoration will last for many years to come.
